Object narrative
Postcard of photographic image of Maude Adams (1872-1953) as Peter Pan. The front of the card shows a black and white image of Maude Adams in her full Peter Pan costume. The photograph is labeled Maud Adams in 'Peter Pan' (name spelled incorrectly). Maude performed this role, her most famous, in 1905, 1906, 1912-1913, 1915-1916, and 1918. The postcard was never used. The stamp space reads: Domestic postage one cent, foreign postage two cents. There is a price of $6.00 handwritten on the back side of the card in pencil, leading to the assumption that this card has been sold before as a collector's item. The postcard itself is yellowed with age and is estimated to have been printed between 1905 and 1915 due to its lack of a white border. This places the postcard within the time frame that Maude Adams was performing ''Peter Pan.''
