The Lydia E .. Pinkham Medicine Co.
LYNN, MASSACHUSETTS
Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound is successful
in. overcoming a woman's ills because it contains the tonic
strengthening properties of good old-fashioned roots a:nd
herbs, which act on the female organs. Women from aU
parts of the country are continually testifying to its strengthening,
curative. influence.
-
When Lydia E. Pinkham's remedies were first intro-duced,
their curative powers had to be proved. But the
proof came and gradually the use of these remedies has
spr~ad over the whole country. Now that hundreds of
thousands of women have experienced the most beneficial
effects from the use of these medicines, their value has
become generally recognized, and Lydia E. Pinkham's
Vegetable Compound is the standard remedy for women.
The many convincing testimonials constantly published
ought to be proof enough to women who suffer from those
distressing ills peculiar to their sex, that Lydia E. Pinlth.am's
Vegetable Compound is the medicine they need. This
good old root and herb remedy has proved tmequalled in
controlling the diseases of women; it contains what is needed
to restore a woman's health and strength.
When a remedy has lived for forty years, steadily growing
in popularity and influence, and thousands upon thousands
of women declare they owe their health to it, is it
not· reasonable to believe that it is an article of g~eat merit?
.We.know of no medicine which has been so successful in
relieving th~· sufferings of women as has Lydia E. Pinkham's
Vegetable Compound.

.How to.·Amuse the Children
How to amuse the children
is one of the problems whicn
every mother must face. A
delightful pastime is played with
a small feather. The children are
grouped together and a small feather
thrown into the air. It is the business of
every play® to blow the feather toward ~or
her neighbor, for if the feather should fall on
or near an. individual, that person goes out of the
game. The children are not allowed to run away from
the feather outside a definite line which may be marked
with chalk. Anyone who is responsible for sending the
feather outside of bounds also goes out of the game.
MOTHERS AND WIVES
of this country-those who, after months and even years
of suffering, have been restored to health and strength
by that good old-fashioned root and herb remedy, Lydia
E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound-are the ones who have
spread the good news of health restored, until today there
is hardly a town so small that the women who suffer from
female ailments do not depend upon Lydia E. Pinkham's
Vegetable Compound to restore health.
"When I was a you11g girl I had very poor health and
nothing helped me until I got Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable
Compound and began taking it. It, helped me from the
start and since then I have taken it at differi:mt times and
always felt better afterwards. I have also taken Lydia E.
Pinkham's Liver Pills and think they are the be(lt -of . all' .-
liver medicines. I will always have a good word for yoUi
remedies and you may publish this if you care to do . so!-.

Potato Race- For a potato
race, piles of potatoes
(10 or 12) are placed in a row,
one pile for each player. At a
given signal the players carry the
potatoes, one at a time, to the goal.
Three-legged Race-The contestants in
the three-legged race go in pairso The right
leg ·of one and left leg of the other are tied tightly
together at the knee and ankle, and they are
to walk, hobble, jump or run from one goal to another.
Sack Race-For the sack race each contestant steps:
into a sack of burlap and has it tied around his waist.
20-yard Dash-The players start from a given point,
each with a tumbler of water on his head, to walk to a goali
20 yards away. The tumbler must remain untouched
on the head until the goal is reached.
"I had inflammation of the womb and for three months
menstruation came every two weeks. I thought I would
die with piercing pains that were just like a knife through
my back and ovaries, and after I had lost all my strength
I went to bed. My doctor stated that I must have an oper=
ation but I did not listen to him. I thought of Lydia E,
Pinkham's Vegetable Compound which I had read so much
about, and the very first bottle gave me great relief. When
· I had taken six bottles I was well again and now when K

Another simple game for
children. T h i s must be
played out of doors. On a flat
piece of ground, a little pile of
dry earth or sand is made. Take
a small stick and in a cleft at the top
fit a square of white paper to represent a
flag. Finally push the stick down the centre
of the mound. Each player is given a stick,
~N'~;-·· and the object of the game is to emove a little
~·~~ of the earth from the mound without upsetting the
flag. The last stages of the game are exciting, as a trifle
will often upset the flag. The player who is responsible
for the failure goes out of the game and the flag is set up
again. The player who holds out to the end is the winner.
TO HELP OTHER WOMEN
After terrible sufferings, numberless women have used
Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound and recovered
from ailments peculiar to their sex. Many of these, who
cannot bear that other women should suffer as they did
without knowing what to do, have written letters telling
their experience, to be published to the world. These
honest, helpful stories are constantly appearing in the newspapers
and in our little books. Read them, ailing women,
they are written with no motive but your good.
"I was weak and all run down, also had female trouble.
I took Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound and Liver .

pills were excellent for the liver. I keep them most all
the time. I wish every user of Lydia E. Pinkha.m:s medicine
as great relief as I received from it."

"The Magic Circle"
This is quite a mystery
to the uninitiated. A circle
is formed and two who understand
the game take charge. One
offers to leave the room and when she
comes back she will shake hands with the
person the other leader has shaken hands
with after she left the room. The secret is
simple. The person who spoke last before she
left the room is the one chosen to be shaken by the

WOMAN'S MARTYRDOM
How many men, think you, have any idea of the pain
and misery endured by women of their own households,
who suffer from ills peculiar to their sex? They often see
them smiling and trying to be cheerful even while racked
with pain. If every such woman would only be guided by
the experience of thousands of others who have been restored
to health by that grand old remedy, Lydia E. Pinkham's
Vegetable Compound, much suffering might be avoided.
"I want to tell you how much I have been benefited
by your wonderful medicine. About eight years ago I got
in such a low state of health I was unable to keep house
for three in the family. I had dull, tired, dizzy feelings,
cold feet and hands nearly all the time and could scarcely
sleep at all. The doctor said I had ulcerated womb and
without an operation I would always be an invalid, but I
told him I wanted to wait awhile. Our dealer advised my
, husband to get Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound
and it has entirely cured me. Now I keep house for seven
and work in the garden some, too . . I am so thankful I got
this medicine .. I feel as though it saved my life and have
recommended it to others."

WORTH KNOWING
Women are liable to ailments which cause constant
ill-health and on which they may consult doctors without
much relief. It is well worth knowing that they can
get at the nearest drug store, a simple medicine, made of
roots and herbs, which is just what they need to recover
health. That medicine is Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable
Compound.
"Two years ago I felt so bad that I was sure I would die.
I had hot flashes by day and I was just tired out all the time.
and at night I was worse in every way. I began taking
Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound and I feel that it
. strengthens me and gives me new life, both in body and
. spirit. I had a letter from my daughter last week telling
me that she is taking Vegetable Compound and is doing
her own work now, and she is not troubled with the bearingo
down pains any more."

Relay Race-Have four
players in each team and
line the teams up in rows sit·

of each team is given an apple,
number two a glass of water, number
three a dozen peanuts, number foux a
cracker. At a signal each number one begins
to eat his apple and when it is finished, each
number two drinks the glass of water, and after
that number three eats his dozen peanuts, and then
number four eats his cracker. The winning team is
the one which finishes first. A good umpire is necessary
to watch each team. ·
After the events there is an award of blue ribbons to the
winners. These are made from four inches of blue ribbon
one inch wide, with the words "Athletic Meet" and the event
typewritten on them.
WOMEN, LISTEN TO REASON
You who suffer, why do you hesitate to try what has
removed the sufferings of others? That good old-fashioned
remedy, made from roots and herbs-Lyd-ia .E. Pinkham's
Vegetable Compound-has stood the test. It has no rival
in overcoming the ailments peculiar to your sex. Why
should it not do for you what it has done for others? Give
it .a chance.
"About eight years ago I was very sick, had the grippe

confined to my bed, unable to do any work for three months.
I had congestion of the ovaries and was almost crazy witl\

Vegetable Compound and I was fully cured and have
never had any trouble of that kind since." .

"It was right after having a miscarriage that I
started taking Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound. ·
I had been in very poor health for two years previous.
Had been under a doctor's care for falling of womb and
>vore a support for six months, but it did not seem to help
me. Since I have taken your Compound I feel like a new
woman. I used to suffer so with painful menstruation
and now I am relieved of it for which I can't be too thankful.
I am also the mother of a beautiful healthy baby.
I am a graduate nurse and will be glad to recommend Lydia
E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound at any time."
MRS. R. W. SLOAN,

"Eight years ago I got in an awful condition with what
the doctor said was falling of the womb. I would have
spells of bearing-down pains until he would have to give
me morphine and when I could not stand that they would
put hot cloths on me. The doctor said I would never be
any better without an operation; said I would never have
any children without it. A neighbor, who knew what
your medicine would do, advised me to give Lydia E. Pinkham's
Vegetable Compound a trial. I did so and I have
:never had a return of my old trouble. The next September
I gave birth to as healthy a boy as you can find, and now I
have two more children. I have also used Lydia E. Pink.,
ham's Sanative Wash and Liver Pills,"

THE SPRING OF PERPETUAL YOUTH
was what the Spanish explorer sought in Florida, Youth
cannot be perpetual, but with health a man or woman
can retain youthful looks till the near approach of actual
old age. If a woman is dragging wearily along, oppressed
by some woman's ailment, she may expect a retu;rn of youth~
ful beauty and vivacity by using Lydia E. Pinkham's Vege~
table Compound. ·
"In all the thirty years that I have been married I have
been in bad health many times, having several attacks
of nervous prostration until it seemed as if the organs in
my whole body were worn out. I was persuaded to try
Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound and it made a
·well w0man of me. So in the last few years I have not let
myself run down. As soon as I feel bad and worn out and
nervous I take the Pinkham medicine. I can do all my
own work now, so I advise all ailing women to try Lydia E.
Pinkham's medicine and I will guarantee they will derive
good benefit from it. It saved me lots of expense."

The game "Going to
Boston" requires eight or
more players, and consists of a
row of chairs placed to face alternately
in a straight line, a piano and
pianist. Have one more person in the
game than chairs. The children form a
single line and .as the pianist begins to play,
they march around the chairs. This is continued
until the music stops, then each one scrambles for a
chair. As there is one more child than chairs, one _
is bound to be left out and he or she is obliged to drop
out of the ga..•ne. A chair is taken away and the game
proceeds as before. Each time one is obliged to drop out.
another chair is taken away, and so on, until there is only
one chair and two to get it. The one who succeeds in getting
the last chair is considered the winner. The game is made
1 more exciting if the pianist keeps the crowd guessing as
to when the music will stop. Have her stop in the middle
of a measure one time, or play for either long or short periods.
In this way each one has to be on the lookout all the time.

on my face and my ~kin seemed thick and dry. I have been
taking Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound and Blood
Medicine and now I am enjoying good health. My friends

"Telephone"
The players sit in a
straight row on the floor,
·cross-legged, so that each right
foot touches the neighbor's left
foot, establishing the telephone connection,
and with the left hand to the
ear. The two. leaders sit at the ends and
when the line is in order, one calls the other
on the· 'phone, "Hello"-"Hello," then ensues
a long conversation about the weather, sly hits
about members of the telephone line, etc., then one
asks, "What have you been doing lately?" "Fishing,"
is the reply. "What did you catch?" "A line of suckers."
ARE :M:EDICINES LIQUORS?
A certain class of prejudiced and jealous doctors call
patent medicines only alcoholic beverages. They will
telr you that such and such a medicine contains as much
alcohol as a glass of beer or a certain quantity of whiskey;
but they do not mention that the beer or whiskey i~:_; swallowed
at one draught, while only a small quantity of the medicine
i:. taken at one close. At the same time they will use alcohol
quite as freely, and many in four or five times as great proportions,
in their own prescriptions. Such standard remedies
as Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound use barely
enough alcohol to preserve the root and herb extractivestoo
little to have injurious effects-and the medicine can be
had, if desired, in a non-alcoholic form

Hence the necessity for that great remedy which during
forty years has done more than any other to relieve such
ailments and mitigate the . suffering of American vVomenLydia
E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound .
.'"'! had so much backache and headache and was always
tired. I have taken Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Com~

'·Going To Paris~9
The players may be any
number and should sit in a
circle. The leader starts the
game by saying to his left-hand
neighbor, "I went to Paris and
bought a pair of shears," meantime he
begins working .the first two fingers of his
right hand like shears. The neighbor repeats
this sentence to his left-hand neighbor and he
too ends by making his fingers go scissors fashion.
This continues around the circle until all are doing it.
Then the leader says to his left-hand neighbor, "I went
to Paris and bought a fan," fanning himself with his left
hand and still making his right hand go scissors fashion.
This goes around the circle. The third time around he says
"I went to Paris and bought a rocking-chair," and rocks
himself bac¥: and forth.. The fourth time around he buys
a sewing machine and works his right foot treadle fashion.
The fifth and last time he buys chewing-gum and chews
hard. It is almost impossible for all the players to do all
five things at the same tin1e.
TRIBUTE TO A WOMAN
When the Lusitania went down to its watery grave,
taking one of our prominent writers and his wife, leading
papers published a remarkabl~ literary tribute previously
paid by the husband to the wife. This was because she
had been such a helpmate to him in carrying out his ideals:
Thousands of women have the ambition to be such helpmates
to their husbands, but lack the necessary health.
Every such woman should remember that Lydia E. Pinkham's
Vegetable Compound is the one remedy which will
restore health and strength, the unrivalled medicine for
woman's ailments.

is dropped, or caught by the one in the centre,

his place in the middle.
GRANDMOTHER'S MEDICINES
Our ·grandmothers were wise in the virtues of the herbs
of the field. They used to gather and store roots and
herbs and use them to cure the ailments of their families
wormwood, ·thorough wort, sage, rue, chamomile--the
list might go on and on of the healing plants with which
they made us familiar. Now their grand-daughters get
the extracts from just such good old roots and herbs :&·om
the nearest druggist, ready prepared for use. One such
medicine which women find best for their own ailments, is
the well-known Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound.
"For at least twelve years I suffered every month, had
cramps and backache so I could not leave my bed for a few
days. Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound was
recommended to me and the first bottle did me so much
good I kept on taking it. Now I am never troubled with
cramps or backache, and can do all my housework. It
has also done me much good otherwise. I am gaining in
every way and feel like a different woman. I cannot praise
your medicine too highly and recommend it to my friends/ '

"'Beast, Bird or Fish',
The leader stands in the
centre of a circle and holds
something to point with, in
her har:d. She turns suddenly to
some one of the circle, points to
her and says "Beast" or "Bird" or
"Fish" as she chooses. Then while she '
is counting ten, the person pointed at must
give the name of a beast or a bird or a fish as
she is asked. When called on suddenly to say ,_
the name of a "beast" you are as apt to say "sparrow':.
or "trout" as "cat" (for you prepare yourself by haying
one of each kind in your mind). If you fail to give a good
answer before the leader counts ten you have to take the
leader's place.
WOMEN WHO DISREGARD HEALTH
If a woman disregards her health she is sure to pay the
penalty in later years. Incessant work and worry unfit . a woman as a helpmate and mother, and bring on ailments ' which drag her to despair. The real help for all such ailments
is Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound, nature's
ideal assistant to build up and strengthen the female organism
and throw off disease, as proved by the letters from
women continually being published in these books.
"I suffered with terrible pains over my ovaries and very
severe pains in my bladder when I urinated, and I had
whites badly at times. The doctor advised an operation, .
but I have taken Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound
and am thankful to say I am very much improved. I
highly recommend your remedies for I am feeling better
than I have for years. You may publish my letter."

i'The Spanish Seamstress"
This is an jnteresting
game and one which is not
easy to do. Take a large jug
and put it on its side in the cen.tre
of the room. The player sits on the
jug and extends his left leg at full length
so that his heel rests on the floor, then he
puts his right heel on the toe of his left boot.
This leaves him teetering on the jug w)lich rolls
slightly. While in this position he must thread
a needle.
AN OLD PROVERB
It used to be proverbial that every man (and it is certainly
·no less true of women) is either a fool or a physician
at forty. This means that every intelligent person must
learn so much about caring for his own health that by the
time he is forty years of age he can almost be reckoned as a
physician. Why, then, is there so ml!lch talk by doctors
against "self-medi~ation"? A .woman can recognize all
ordinary ailments without calling on a doctor. If they
are ailments distinctive to her sex she generally knows
enough to use that greatest of all remedies for such ailments,
Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound, and likewise
she is familiar with the standard remedies for other diseases.
"!'feel so thankful for what Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable
Comp01md Tablets have done for me that I hardly know
how to write. For over a year I was troubled with excessive
menstruation, but after four months' trial of the Tablets
I 'am again in the best of health and gaining in flesh. I was
told that medicine was useless and that an operation was
all that would give me relief, but I have proved it otherwise."

are seated in a circle and the

(naming an article beginning with
"a"). The next one says "I went

named beginning with 'a') and-" (an article
beginning with "b"). Each one in turn repeats
all the articles given and adds one of her own, be~
ginning with the next letter of the alphabet.
"WEEDS USED IN MEDICINE"
- is the title of a very interesting pamphlet recently circulated
..
by the U. S. Department of Agriculture. It illustrates
and describes the medicinal qualities of roots, leaves and
flowers of our most common weeds, which are nature's
remedies for disease. From the roots and herbs of the 1
field Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound was originated
more than forty years ago, and the demand for it has
increased until it is now recognized as the standard remedy
for female ills.
"Before I was married I worked in the shop and got
all run down. I was ill for nearly ·a ,year with stomach
trouble, could not eat anything, and there was a gnawing
and burning sensation. I doctored with three doctors
and they did me no good and I got worse. Mother got me
Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound and after taking
five bottles I was entirely well. Later, before my first
child was born I took a number of bottles of Vegetable Compound
and felt fine all the nine months. Before my other
two were born I did not take it and was sick and could
keep nothing down. I recommend your medicine to sick
and tired women." MRS. F. E. HART,

FASHIONS, OR WOMAN'S HEALTH
'lo'
The first thing many persons think of finding on the
Woman's Page of a newspaper is the Fashions. That is
not what women most need to find there. Health is the
first thing, and many women lack it. Notes, telling how I
to preserve the health are of the greatest value and interest
for women; and, if they are suffering from woman's ailments,
they read with the most intense interest how other women
got well from their ailments, and so they too get what made
them well-Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound.
"For four years I had female troubles, headaches and
was nervous. I did not care to sleep at night, had no
appetite for my meals and could not walk two squares
without feeling that it hurt me. If I began any work I
would have to lie down before it was finished. A friend
advised me to take the Pinkham remedies and I have been
taking Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound. I feel
like a new woman and I know it has saved me from an operation
which every woman dreads."

the ring takes her place in the centre.
A FEARLESS PHYSICIAN
Such a physician recently remarked: "The wonderful
power of Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound over
diseases of women is not because it is a stimulant, not
because it is a palliative, but simply because it contains
the very elements needed to tone up the female system
and strengthen the depleted organism." 0£ course, that
is so, otherwise it could not succeed as it has.
"vVhen I was 17 years old I began to menstruate and I
had ill health. The doctor said I would have to have an
operation, but I let it go, and when I was 18 years old I
was married. I always loved babies but the doctor said I
would not have any for a while. One day I happened to
find one of your ... little books and read about your medicine
·and went and bought it. After taking Lydia E. Pinkham's
Vegetable Compound a short time I was well. That was
cheaper than a doctor's bill. Now I have a big baby girl.
·when she came I was sick only a short time and my doctor
was surprised. When I look at my baby I praise your
medicine and when I hear of any ·women being sick I tell
her of it. You can use this letter if you wish."

~l'he Go~· ernorvs Reception;))
One couple is picked out
to be the Governor and bis
Lady, and are taken into anQ
other room and placed in the
proper position to receive the guests.
Have only one chair in the room. The
usher brings in the :first guest. The
Governor :and Lady mimic everything their
guest does in the most solemn manner, bowing
if the guest does, repeating the exact words said by
the guest, etc. This continues until the guest sits
down in the chair or until he is discouraged at his cool
reception and retires. As there is only one chair and the
Governor and Lady cannot sit down, the climax of the game
is reached and the guest is instructed to join the receiving
party and see the fun the others make. Then the next
guest is brought in and introduced, ani!. the game continues
until all have been received. If a guest understands the
game he can have a great deal of fun with the receiving
party by putting them through a cuurse of absurd stunts,
as kneeling and knocking the forehead on the floor, walking
lame, kissing them, pulling an ear, singing a song, etc., as
the receiving party must always do as the guest does.
"Since taking Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound
I feel fine. I would sometimes lose my"" urine at night
while asleep-could not hold it without feeling odd-and
had pains in my head. A doctor told me I would need to

"SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST"
A proprietary medicine like everything else that
before the public has to prove its merit, It has to meet
competition. The law of the "Survival of the Fittest"
applies to this as to other things, The fact that Lydia E.
Pinkham's Vegetable Compound after forty years of success
is still one of the largest sellers, proves that it is a de~
pendab1e, standard remedy for the ailments of womankind,
and one in which they may have perfect confidence,
~ -
"I had a baby and no doubt got around too soon and
caused an inflammation of the womb. l suffered a great
deal of pain in those parts and if I slipped off a stone in
walking out or got the least jar, it would hurt me terribly,
I even had spasms of the womb and the doctor said I must
go to the hospital and have an operation. I objected to
that, yet people told me I was looking very badly. One

••The Adv..ertising Game'j'
A good game to test one's
powers of observation is the
advertising game. The hostess
cuts out from magazines and newspapers
the most striking advertisements
of soup, soap, ·gum, patent medicines,
cereals, automobiles, etc., cutting
off any lettering which would show the name
of the article advertised and leaving you .to
guess it by the picture. Make up a good assortment
of these to the number of twenty, number each
one carefully, and hand each guest a paper and pencil
to note down their guesses. Give them twenty minutes
to write their answers, then correct the papers and award a
prize to the one guessing the largest number.
VOTES OF WOMEN
Do women realize that they already vote in the most
effective way on important questions? Every time a woman
buys an article it is a vote, backed by money, for that
article ; a sincere approval of its merits. So women have
been voting on the question of health. vVhen they have
suffered from wo:nan's ailments their vote has been overwhelmingly
for Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound,
which they have bought and used with satisfaction.
"I would not be here today if it had not been for your
medicine. I was suffering with falling of the womb, irregular
menstruation and constipation. I had pains in my
side and almost continuous headaches. I started to take
Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound and used the
Sanative Wash, and now I cannot express my joy and happiness
to you for the great relief they have given me. . I
always tell the sick about your remedies. Please publish
and express my gratitude to all." MRS. 0. A. COE,

(liThe Cock Fight"
A circle is drawn on the
ground. The players stand
shoulder to shoulder inside the
circle, with arms folded behind the
back. The play starts on a signal,
and consists in trying to push the other
cocks out of the circle with the shoulders.
Any "cock" who unfolds his arms or falls
down is also out of the game. The winner is
he who in the end succeeds in shoving all the others
out of the ring.
DENOUNCING MEDICINES
·wholesale denunciation of proprietary medicines is no
more justifiable than wholesale denunciation of tlie medical
profession. It is no more true that there are reputable
physicians who unselfishly devote their lives to an unending
struggle with disease than that there are standard
remedies which do as good a work; often where the work of
the good physician cannot reach. A good example is
Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound, which has for
forty years been alleviating the sufferings of women a.nd
curing the ills peculiar to their sex.
"I am so pleased to say I am glad I can recommend
Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound as an economical
m~dicine which one quickly finds is beneil.cial in most ailments
pertaining to women. At least I found it so by
only taking two bottles. I was very nervous and had in.
digestion in a bad form and I am now feeling in the best of

A MEDICINE OF MERIT
The great sale of Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound
all over this land is the result of genuine merit. The reason
is that this good- old-fashioned root and herb medicine
actually helps those suffering from the ailments peculiar
to women. If it did not, would not the women have found
it out in forty years so that few oi them would buy it?

A DELEGATION OF WOMEN
were intensely interested when they recently visited the

The first camp retires and makes
arrangements to act out a ce.tain

"ingratiate" it may be presented in drame.tic
form by a lady dressed in grey, eating a piece vf

to throw the other camp off the track. Some charades
are very pretty pictures. "Matrimony" is very popular,
The first scene represents "mat," the second "rye" and the
third "money," and the whole is attractively staged as a
wedding ceremony. While the second camp is waiting for
the first one to stage its word they can be making arrangements
for their own charade which will follow the first, so
that all have an equal chance to act and to guess. You
ar<i allowed to tell your opponents how many scenes you
