Nutrition Education Materials for Use in the WIC Program United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service FNS-166 University of North Carolina· at Greensboro Nutrition Education Materials for Use in the WIC Program Introduction This list of resource materials has been compiled by the Food and Nutrition Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture to assist State and local agencies in providing nutrition education to WIC Program participants and personnel. It updates the listings published in March and October 1976, and gives additional materials. The contents of the materials on this list were reviewed for accuracy and for appropriateness to WIC participants. The materials included represent a broad spectrum of formats, content, and sophistication. They should be used selectively as sources of ideas to supplement existing materials. A grade level of reading difficulty is given for most publications. This is based on the " Dale-Chall Formula for Predicting Readability," (Bureau of Educational Research, Ohio State University) and "A Table for Rapid Determination of Dale-Chall Readability Scores" (George R. Klare, Educational Research Bulletin, I, No. 2, February 13, 1952, pp. 43-47). No grade level for an item indicates an illustrated pubiication with not enough words to determine reading difficulty. Requests for copies of materials on this listing should be sent directly to the agency or company cited. Multiple copies of print materials from trade associations and professional organizations are free or inexpensive. Only single copies of materials from State or local agencies are available. However, these agencies will allow reproduction of their free materials with the stipulation that proper credit be given on the publication. United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service FNS-166 February 1978 Inclusion of a Material on This List Does Not Mean Endorsement of Any Company or Brand by USDA. We thank those organizations, agencies, and companies that have shared their materials to make this list possible. The list will be updated annually as additional materials become available. Comments on this list and materials for review are welcome and should be sent to: Director Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants and Children Food and Nutrition Service U.S. Department of Agriculture Washington, D.C. 20250 or the Director Nutrition & Technical Services Staff Food and Nutrition Service U.S. Department of Agriculture Washington, D.C. 20250 The Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants, and Children is open to all eligible persons regardless of race, sex, color, creed, or national origin. Full-text | Nutrition Education Materials for Use in the WIC Program United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service FNS-166 University of North Carolina· at Greensboro Nutrition Education Materials for Use in the WIC Program Introduction This list of resource materials has been compiled by the Food and Nutrition Service of the U.S. This is based on the " Dale-Chall Formula for Predicting Readability" (Bureau of Educational Research, Ohio State University) and "A Table for Rapid Determination of Dale-Chall Readability Scores" (George R.
