In honor of the 250th anniversary of the birth of Joseph Haydn, the
first edition of his Trio in E flat major, H.XV:29, heard this evening, is
on exhibit in the foyer of the Coolidge Auditorium. Also on display are
the autograph manuscripts of the Andante movement from Haydn's
Symphony in G major, H.I:94 ("The Surprise") and Mendelssohn's
Octet for strings.

The concert on Friday evening will be broadcast in its entirety by
radio station WETA-FM, and made available to stations in other cities
by the Public Radio Cooperative, under the auspices of the Katie and
Walter Louchheim Fund in the Library of Congress.
