One can almost smell the menthol and eucaluptus aroma surrounding these packers at the Vick's plant on Milton Street. When this image was taken on June 28, 1951, the Milton Street plant had been in operation for 41 years. Lunsford Richardson organized the business in 1905 as the Vick's Family Remedies Company and renamed it the Vick Chemical Company in 1911. After 1907, they started concentrating on Vick's Salve, which was renamed VapoRub in 1912. It was the great flu epidemic of 1918 that saw sales go from 5 million to 17 million jars by 1919.
