.A/5-5: THEIMVERSTTYOF NORTH CAROLINA GREENSBORO BLOODLINE UNCG School of Nursing Alumni Association Newsletter February 1995 From Your President Doris Armenaki BSN 1974 The age-old question comes easily to mind as I reflect on the past year as president of the School of Nursing Alumni Association, "Where does the time go?" I can hardly believe another year has passed. However, I can report to you that your Alumni Association is alive and well in Greensboro, NC. The Board of Directors has been working hard for the betterment of the organization. Plans are under way for the annual spring meeting to be held March 25,1995. You will find more detailed information in this issue of Bloodline, and early in 1995 you will receive registration information in the mail. Please give this meeting serious consideration and join us on that day. Once again, we co-sponsored a reception at the NCNA Convention for UNCG Alumni. The UNCG Alumni Association and Dean Lynne Pearcey joined us as sponsors for this event and we thank them for this assistance. The reception was attended by 40-45 alumni and several friends. Most came early and stayed late to renew friendships and join in telling tall tales of reminiscences. Unfortunately, the annual meeting was not well attended. However, the few alumni who were there participated in an exciting time as revised by-laws were accepted and new board members were elected to office. Following an outstanding brunch in the Alumni House, two important events took place. The third Distinguished Alumni Award was presented to Linda Bray Rimer ('71). Then last year's recipient of that award, Lavonne Beach (BSN '70, MSN '82), inspired and encouraged us with her assessment of the future of nursing as we, as nursing professionals, enter the twenty-first century. The upcoming membership drive is in the capable hands of Barbara Osguthorpe ('83). Barb also serves on the Board of Directors as a member-at-large. We urge you, as a card-holding member, not only to renew your membership in 1995-%, but to use your influence to encourage other alumni to join and support the organization. We badly need more members in order to accomplish the goals of YOUR Alumni Association. We hope you enjoy Bloodline. Remember, it goes only to the current membership each year. April 30,1995, will see my tenure as your president come to a close. It has been an honor to represent you and the UNCG School of Nursing in this capacity. Thank you for your support and for the fun times we have shared. My appreciation goes to Dean Pearcey for her constant interest in our endeavors and the many ways she has aided and abetted all of us. My respect and heartfelt thanks goes also to the members of the 1993-94 and 1994-95 Boards of Directors without whom our association would in reality be non-existent. No one could ask for more committed professionals with whom to work. In May 1995,1 will leave you in the efficient and able hands of the incoming president, Kathy Foster ('84, '92). I know you will give her the same dedication and professional support which you afforded me throughout the past two years. Good luck and best wishes to each of you!
