The speed of these roads is some twenty-five miles an hour, aad freight can be earned at ana cent per too per mile, and yield a handsome revenue upon the invest-ment. The roads are nsed extensively iu Wales and many places on the conti-nent, in Australia, and in Canada. In the latter place they are now building a road ofthis kind a distance of one hundred and twenty miles.
