To many it was a novel sight The street parade Monday morning and the exhibition io tbe afternoon were witnessed by immense crowds of people, as is always tbe case when the weather is favorable. To those who have been in,the babit of coming to town on circus day nothing new was seen, but nothing new is expected of a circus. The parade was made up of shortly after 10 o'clock and moved to the fair grounds. Gen. Julian S. Carr, of Durham, who was to have delivered the opening address, was unable io be present. His place, however, was filled by Dr. B. F. Dixou, state auditor, for-me Iv president of Greensboro Female College, who delivered a splendid ad-d'e* a. He was introduced in a ne«t little speech by Mayor O^born. The attendance yesterday was not great, though quite a number of people purouased tickets. Visitors found a soene of busy aotivity iuside tbe in-closure. Exhibits were being placed in position and those in charge of at-tractions were busy arrangiug for tbe immense crowds that visited tbe fair today and that are expected during tbe remainder of the fair. The exhibits are full and complete and include of tbe new year, while the quality of tbe weed offered has been up to the average. Prices on every grade con-linue satisfactory. The cool, dry weather since Saturday Interferes with | tbe marketing of leaf to some extent, hut it gives the farmers an opportun-ity to get up with their fall work. To many it was a novel sight The street parade Monday morning and the exhibition io tbe afternoon were witnessed by immense crowds of people, as is always tbe case when the weather is favorable. To those who have been in,the babit of coming to town on circus day nothing new was seen, but nothing new is expected of a circus. The parade was made up of shortly after 10 o'clock and moved to the fair grounds. Gen. Julian S. Carr, of Durham, who was to have delivered the opening address, was unable io be present. His place, however, was filled by Dr. B. F. Dixou, state auditor, for-me Iv president of Greensboro Female College, who delivered a splendid ad-d'e* a. He was introduced in a ne«t little speech by Mayor O^born. The attendance yesterday was not great, though quite a number of people purouased tickets. Visitors found a soene of busy aotivity iuside tbe in-closure. Exhibits were being placed in position and those in charge of at-tractions were busy arrangiug for tbe immense crowds that visited tbe fair today and that are expected during tbe remainder of the fair. The exhibits are full and complete and include of tbe new year, while the quality of tbe weed offered has been up to the average. Prices on every grade con-linue satisfactory.
