H. Hollowell, of Denver, Colo., is here on a visit to her brother, Mr. A. N. Perkios, proprietor of the McAdoo House. —Rev. Charles P. Rankin, of Red Interesting Meeting of Vie Teachers' Association. The public meeting of the Guilford County Teachers' Association, held in the court bouse last Saturday, was well attended, though it is to be regretted that oo few of the school committee-men were present. The proceedings were very interesting and instruotive througbout. In tbe abeence of the president of the association, Prof. J. Y. Joyner, the meeting was presided over by Df W. T. Wliitsett. Tbe meeting was opened with prayer by Rev. A.G.Kirkman, who afterwards spoke briefly to the teachers, urging the necessity of religious training in the schools. A most admirable address was de-livered by Prof. J. Alien Holt, chair-man of the board of education of Guil-ford county. The address was tilled Will Come to Guilford. The PATRIOT is pleased to learn that Messrs. R. E. Osborne and E. O. Wil-cox, of Perry, Iowa, who spent a few days in this section recently, hnve de-cided to locate in Guilford. Next week's is-sue of the PATRIOT will contain the address in full. Prof. Holt was followed by Dr. Chas. D. Mclver, who made a most practical and useful address. He urged the teachers to give close attention to their | profession, to study school methods, read much and travel whenever oppor-tunity afforded, as a great deal was to be learned by observation. Dr. Mc-lver expressed his regret that teachers were sometimes examined by men without practical experience in the MARKKT RBPORT. The receipts on our market for the past week have been larger than they have for any previous week during the past month and a half, being composed principally of new primings grown immediately around Greensboro. The quality of these has been very satis-factory so far, and if the seasons will continue fairly good, we lood for a fair crop of tobacco. The color is extremely , .„—„_ —j good for this season and the quality upwards of thirty years. They j very good for first primings, down in North Carolina, Virginia, I Prices on all grades have been very satisfactory to farmers and all of them have expressed themselves as being highly pleased. Some of them said that if we would continue the present prices, which we propose to do, that we would sell twice as much tobacco the coming season as we bad ever sold. Interesting Meeting of Vie Teachers'
Association.
The public meeting of the Guilford
County Teachers' Association, held in
the court bouse last Saturday, was well
attended, though it is to be regretted
that oo few of the school committee-men
were present. The proceedings
were very interesting and instruotive
througbout. In tbe abeence of the
president of the association, Prof. J.
Y. Joyner, the meeting was presided
over by Df W. T. Wliitsett.
Tbe meeting was opened with prayer
by Rev. A.G.Kirkman, who afterwards
spoke briefly to the teachers, urging
the necessity of religious training in
the schools.
A most admirable address was de-livered
by Prof. J. Alien Holt, chair-man
of the board of education of Guil-ford
county. The address was tilled

Prof. Holt was followed by Dr. Chas.
D. Mclver, who made a most practical
and useful address. He urged the
teachers to give close attention to their |
profession, to study school methods,
read much and travel whenever oppor-tunity
afforded, as a great deal was to
be learned by observation. Dr. Mc-lver
expressed his regret that teachers
were sometimes examined by men
without practical experience in the
MARKKT RBPORT.
The receipts on our market for the
past week have been larger than they
have for any previous week during the
past month and a half, being composed
principally of new primings grown
immediately around Greensboro. The
quality of these has been very satis-factory
so far, and if the seasons will
continue fairly good, we lood for a fair
crop of tobacco. The color is extremely
, .„—„_ —j good for this season and the quality
upwards of thirty years. They j very good for first primings,
down in North Carolina, Virginia, I Prices on all grades have been very
satisfactory to farmers and all of them
have expressed themselves as being
highly pleased. Some of them said
that if we would continue the present
prices, which we propose to do, that
we would sell twice as much tobacco
the coming season as we bad ever sold.
This market is fast coming to tbe
front, and farmers at no short distance
are fast learning that they can get
fully as good prices in Greensboro as
they can on any market within their
reach.
