United Way volunteers pledge themselves
Madeline Claggion and Karen Lordeman-
Rowdy share a common interest that binds them to the Greensboro community. The two women, both
employees of The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, serve as volunteers in two of United Way of Greater
Greensboro's 38 agencies. Though they work in different agencies and possess different talents, they share the
same commitment to give back to their community. And this, they say, brings them great pleasure.
Madeline, who works as a Clinical Nurse Educator in Nursing Education, began volunteering at the Triad
Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation at the urging of a North Carolina A&T University classmate before she joined the
hospital staff 10 years ago. This agency provides important services and education to the community about
