Bulletin #4 January 1972 Auxiliary to the Guilford County Medical Society, Greensboro Branch NEXT MEETING The next meeting will be held at Mary Bradley's home, 3u01 Madison Ave. The date is Jan. 18. This coffee will be very important because of the election of officers. BUTNER—DOUBLE THANKS Those going to Butner in Nov. were Marianne Hertle, Jean Hambright and Mary Fisher. Baking this month were Cynthia Doyle, Joan Maultsby, Becky Smith, Jane Hall, Marian Weatherly, Marylynn King, Barbara Lee, Nancy Stiefel, Nancy Courts, and Lyla Lodmell. The Dec. party was a huge success. The patients were grateful for the Santa Boot filled with hand knitted bedsocks, hobby horse covered candy cane, and hand lotion. Trudy Spangler, Anne McLendon, Judy Weis, and Trudy Sillman took a station wagon full of Christmas party goodies, punch, gifts and decorations for the day room. Baking this time were Ann Rollins, Jane Sardi, Jane. Hunt, Kay Troxler, Irma Lyday, Flora Price, Nancy Stiefel and Evelyn Bumgarner. A party was held at Rehabilitation House on Cypress Street on Dec. 1$. Each of the nine women who live there received a personal gift. A small tree and decorations also a scrabble game were presented to Sara Huffman for use at the house. Lib Allgood played Christmas carols. Nancy Stiefel, Libby Leonard, Jeanne Hassell, and Irma Lyday helped with the party. This month's gold star goes to Bobbie Gene Ogburn who knitted 16 pairs of bed socks for the patients at Butner. This was a great gesture on Bobbie Gene's part. * * * # * # * HELP NEEDED Doctor's Day will be held on March 25 and some homes are still needed in which to hold the progressive dinner. Helpers are also needed. If you feel that you might be interested, contact either Mary Fisher—273-7692, or Libby Leonard—29u-25uO. YOU DON'T MEAN? Betty Benbow states that many too many have not paid their dues. Please try to get these in as soon as possible, Mail to Betty at 3809 W. Friendly. Ave. -;:- # * *-*-** * ARTS AND CRAFTS SHOW IN THE MAKING An arts and crafts show will be held in Fisher Park on April 16 between one and five, Syvie Cloninger announced. Anyone interested in either working or exhibiting please contact Syvie. * * * * * * NEXT TRIP The Jan. trip to Butner will be on Jan. 19. Anyone interested in going please call Betty Herring, 292-UU60, HEAD START HELPERS Ann McClendon wishes to thank all those who helped with the urine analysis. Those participating in this program were Nickie Davis, Jeanne Hassell, Libby Leonard, Marianne Hertle, Dottie Rogers, Nellouise Watkins, Marion Weatherly, Jean Spangler, Betty Jo Brumback, Nancy Courts and Jimmie Johnson. * ■)'<■ * * * AMONG OURSELVES Welcome to Dr. and Mrs. Robert Gay (Betty) newcomers to Greensboro. The Gays live at 1606 Forest Valley Road. He is a, pathologist at Moses Cone. Congratulations to Cynthia Doyle on receiving the Chamber of Commerce Nat Greene Award. This award was given Cynthia for her many community activities especially Operation DAMN, the program initiated by the auxiliary for drug education. Welcome to little Miss Lewis who arrived in the Ritchie Lewis family early in Dec. Everyone is sorry to see Ralph and Frances Lake leave Greensboro, but wish them happiness in their new home in Biloxi, Mississippi. Dr. Lake will be at the VA hospital there. (over)
