MEDITATIONS BULLETIN # 1 SEPTEMBER, 1968 AUXILIARY TO THE GUILFORD COUNTY MEDICAL SOCIETY OF GREENSBORO BRANCH SEPTEMBER MEETING Date: Tuesday, September 17 Time: ll:li5 a.m. Place: Carriage House Restaurant Dr. Isaac Taylor, dean of the UNC Medical School, will speak to us on the needs of the medical school. This is YOUR auxiliary. Come and meet new members and participate in plans for the coming year. All of the regular meetings of the auxiliary this year will be held at the Carriage House at ll:lj.5. Remember, a reservation made must be paid. If the telephone committee is unable to reach you, please call Mary Folio by Friday, September 13- Your telephone committee will make every effort to reach you, but three calls will be their limit. NEW MEMBERS A hearty welcome to our new members 1 We are looking forward to meeting each of you and hope that you will take an active part in the programs of the auxiliary. Mrs. George F. Smith (Jo) Mrs. K.C. Walden (Anne) Mrs. Reed Wood (Martha) DUES Please come prepared to pay your dues at the September meeting. If you prefer, use the enclosed blank and mail to Mrs. Robert Whitener, 1102 Hobbs Rd, 27^10. Dues are $15 for the year. VOLUNTEERS FOR CRISIS CONTROL CENTER The Crisis Control Center will begin training volunteers with 3 two-hour sessions Sept. 10, 17, and 2k, 8 p.m. at W. Market St. Methodist Church. Pairs of volunteers are urgently needed to work on li-hour shifts twice a month. For further information, call Trudy Garrard, 273-0175 "FRIENDSHIP AND MEMORIALS Call Dottie Rogers (273-6695) if you know of any members or their families who have been hospitalized or bereaved. We need your help in bringing these things to her attention. HEALTH CAREERS SCHOLARSHIPS The Greensboro Branch of the Guilford Medical Auxiliary takes pleasure in Announcing that two Health Careers Scholarships have awarded to the following students at UNC-G School of Nursing: Miss Mary Jane Tate Mrs. Janis Hartsook SCRAPB00K Dot Bruce and Agnes Anthony are collecting items for our scrapbook. This is a permanent record of auxiliary activities for this year. We like to include articles concerning our doctor husbands in their careers, honors to the children of our members as well as our own auxiliary publicity. Please send clippings to Dot or Agnes, for we are asked to forward some things to the State Scrapbook chairman as well. It is most interesting to look at all the scrapbooks on display at the state meetings, comparing activities and interests of the varied groups. Help from you will be greatly appreciated. THANKS! Yearbook Chairman Betty Herring and Nancy Stiefel would like to thank the following for their help in telephoning during the summer: Dot Bruce Betty Merritt Rose Garvey Lib Morris Jimmie Johnson Trudy Spangler Patsy Kelly Betty Wolff Betty and Nancy also ask that if you find any mistakes in the yearbook you will please let one of them know. This will help in compiling next year's book. HELP NEEDED Marion Weatherly, International Health Chairman, has asked that everyone scour her linen closet for old sheets (any size, any color) for a project of which we'll tell you more later. If you will bring them to the meeting Marion will collect them. We need loads of themI GET INVOLVED IN POLITICS! KNOW YOUR CANDIDATES, GET YOUR FRIENDS TO VOTE, GET YOURSELF TO THE POLLS!
