ANNUAL REPORT
1986-1987
SUSIE SHAFER
GUILFORD COUNTY MEDICAL SOCIETY AUXILIARY
GREENSBORO BRANCH
NARRATIVE
Groundwork for the entire year began with selection of board
members in February. Following our spring '86' Long Range Planning,
where we defined our objectives for the year, several committee
chairmen were added to our board including chairmen for Sawbones-
Jawbones, The Medical Family Funday/Picnic, and Teens Taking Charge.
In April officers were installed and scholarships were awarded,
[see Scholarship Report] Special Recognition Awards were given to
members of the Medical Society and the community for their
contributions to the auxiliary.
The May Old/New Board Meeting involved an exchange of information
between incoming and outgoing chairmen and distribution of updated
folders containing job descriptions and State Report Forms. Many
new and first and second year members served on this year's board
as co-chairmen and committee members. These members were given a
special introduction and recognition, [see Membership Report &
President's Annual Report Form]
A July 15th deadline for information to be included in the
1986-1987 Yearbook necessitated much early summer organization. The
Telephone Committee updated membership information, our budget was
determined, and the yearly calendar set with dates, programs and
meeting arrangments. The Membership Chairman worked diligently
throughout the summer to welcome 40 new physicians and their families,
to establish time tables, contact new potential members and provide
information for the directory. Our efforts to recruit new members
included a phone call on arrival from the membership chairman,
assignment of a big sister, welcome totes, personal letter of
welcome from the president and a new Orientation Coffee format
including a project exhibit. Babysitting was provided and this event
was well attended and appreciated by these potential new members.
Voter registration was available at the coffee. [see Membership
