BULLETIN #4 JANUARY, 1968
AUXILIARY TO THE GUILFORD COUNTY MEDICAL SOCIETY GREENSBORO BRANCH
JANUARY MEETING
Date: Tuesday, January 16
Time: 11:45 a.m.
Place: Carriage House Restaurant
Mr. Ma'rshall Abee, Bxecutive Director of Community Health Services, will
speak to us and explain the role this
organization plays in benefiting our
community. Since proceeds of our project will go to the purchase of equipment for the Sick Room Loan Closet, we
are anxious to hear how we have helped
with this great need.
Mrs. Eugene Clayton, President of
the State Auxiliary to the Medical Society, has made plans to attend our meeting Tuesday. We will be honored to have
this distinguished guest and know you
will look forward to meeting her.
HOCKEY PROJECT
Many thanks to all of you for the
fine work and a special thank-you to
Jean Spangler and Leah Tannenbaum who
gave so unselfishly of their time to
make this project a success. The auxiliary cleared $1,055,001
CHRISTMAS PARTY AT UMSTEAD
The Christmas party at Umstead was
a tremendous success. Emily Smith and
her group did a fine job. There was a
gift for each person and a few to spare,
The patients and all enjoyed it so much,
LETTER OF APPRECIATION
We received a letter from the
Christmas Clearing Bureau for our donation of $10.00. The grateful family
helped by our contribution included a
father who couldn't work because of a
recent heart attack and a mother who
worked in the mill.
DOCTOR'S DAY
Another delightful evening is
planned for our Doctor's Day celebration
for Thursday, February 15 at 6:30 o.m.
at Elliott Hall at UNC-G. A light program will follow the buffet dinner, and
cost of the evening will be $6.50 per
couple. Make reservations by sending
your check to Mrs. S. B. Joyner at
1606 Independence Road. Make it payable
to Guilford County Medical Auxiliary,
Greensboro Branch. Letters will be
mailed about February 1st including
all details, but start making plans now
to join us in honoring our doctor husbands that evening.
SOAP NEEDED
An urgent call has come to us from
the International Health Service for
bars of soap. Perhaps it is hard for
us to imagine how valuable this small
item can be in places where it is not
available. Irma Lyday will collect
these at our meeting, so please remember to bring some soap - either a regular size bar or the small ones collected
from motels, etc. will be appreciated.
