In 195U Wesley Long Hospital began improving and enlarging its facilities
in order to provide better service to patients and doctors. The first part of this
program has been almost completed, at an approximate cost of $150,000.00
In addition to the above building improvements the hospital has purchased
land fronting on Church and Bishop Streets; and also on the south side of the hospital
facing North Elm Street, for additional parking space; and has acquired the apartments
facing Church Street for additional living quarters for nurses - all costing more than
$135*000.00. The financing of these capital expenditures was made possible by individual contributions and a long term insurance loan.
The Board of Directors and Trustees have been considering a fund raising
campaign to raise additional capital in order that we may continue to present building program, which will provide, according to present plans, twenty eight patient
beds, two new emergency rooms, new nursery, and probably a recovery room.
Since these additional facilities will benefit the doctors more than any
other group, the Board of Directors and Trustees would like to ask you to participate
in this program, A pledge to be paid over a three year period has been suggested.
Any contributions made to the hospital would be deductible from your income tax, as
the hospital has operated as a non-profit, non-stock charitable corporation since
October 1, 1943, Your reply will help us in determining whether we shall continue
or abandon our present plans.
Won't you please let us have your decision by June first,
letter and addressed envelope for your convenience.
Very truly yours,
WESLEY LONG HOSPITAL, INC.
