Honored for 20 years service
The hospital honored 117 employees
at the annual service awards banquet
ruary 23 at Holiday Inn Four
sons. This occasion also commemorated the 24th anniversary of the
hospital opening February 25, 1953.
A string trio furnished dinner music
for the honorees, their spouses, trustees, department heads and members of
the medical board.
The guest speaker was Mr. Horace
"Bones" McKinney, former basketball

Three new Chiefs of Service were
named at the February meeting of the
Board of Trustees'. Each of the
appointments is effective July 1.
Dr. Edwin L. Bryan, currently Vice
President of the Medical Board and a
staff member since 1967, succeeds Dr.
Norman H. Garrett as Chief of
Medicine.
Dr. Otis Fisher, a staff member since
1968, follows Dr. James F. Reinhardt
as Chief of Radiology.
Dr. James W. Singer, who presently
is Secretary of the Medical Board and a
member of staff since 1966, will follow
Dr. Carl H. Weatherly as Chief of
Pediatrics.

coach for Wake Forest University and
for the Carolina Cougars. Mr. McKinney praised hospital employees for
excellent patient care and the love they
have shown for their fellowman.
Mr. Williams receives congratulations, gift
and applause.
Mr. Harold L. Bettis, Director,
presented service awards to 48 employees with five years service, 39 with ten
years, 16 with 15 years, and 13 with 20
years service. Mr. Thomas F. Williams,
Controller, received a 25-year service
pin and a special gift of an electric bench
saw. Mr. Williams joined the hospital
one year prior to opening date and
plans to retire at the end of this calendar
year.
