MOSES CONE HOSPITAL REVIEW Vol. IX, No. 1 Moses Cone Hospital REVIEW Jan. - Feb., 1975 22nd Anniversary 162 Receive Service Awards Mr. Alan Cone-Guest Speaker The Board of Trustees, administrative leaders and hospital personnel gathered at the Royal Villa on Thursday evening, February 27, for the hospital's 22nd Anniversary and annual employee service Award Banquet. 162 employees having 5, 10, 15, and 20 years service were honored with dinner and service pins in appreciation for their years of service to the hospital. Mr. David Rickelton, Assistant Director, presided as master of ceremonies, Mr. Alan Cone, member of the Board of Trustees, was guest speaker for the occasion. Mr. Cone commented on the complexity of the hospital institution. In his message, Mr. Cone defined the distinguishing Recipients of 20-Year Sen/ice Awards characteristic between a hospital and a great hospital as the people who serve it, and congratulated the employees on their service to Moses Cone Hospital. Mr. Harold Bettis, Director, presented service awards to 162 employees. Trustees for the hospital were recognized for their years of service to the hospital and received potted azaleas as a token of appreciation. Trustees are Mrs. Britt Armfield, Mr. Edward Benbow, Jr., Dr. Claud Bowen, Jr., Dr. Rod Buie, Mr. Alan Cone, Mr. Benjamin Cone, Mr. Ceasar Cone, Mr. Herman Cone, Jr., Mr. H. P. Hayes, Mr. Howard Holderness, Mr. Edwin F. Lucas, Jr., Mr. Charles A. McLendon, Mrs. Lewis S. Morris, Mr. Louis C. Stephens, Jr., and Mr. Bettis Presents Service Awards Mrs. Robert B. Taylor. Recipients of merit awards for 20 years of service to the hospital include Miss Norfleet Dixon from Admitting; Mrs. Francis Miller and Mrs. Alberta Patterson of Anesthesia; Miss Blanche Carter, Directors Office; Mrs. Mettie Britt, Communications; Mrs. Lula Leaverson, Food Service; Miss Marue Summerlin, Laboratory; Mrs. Myrtle Harris, Mrs. Hazel McAdoo, Mrs. Mary Miller, Mrs. Fritzi Crawford, Nursing and Mr. Warren Jones, Operating Room. Employees receiving 15 year service awards were Mr. Dalton Beaman, Accounting; Mrs. Edith Jones, Mrs. Dolly McNeill, Communications; Mrs. Judy Johnson, Continued on Page 4 Dr. Brewer Joins ER Staff Dr. James C. Brewer has been appointed by the Hospital as a full-time Emergency Room Physician. He began duties on March 1, serving with Dr. Allan Cogge- shall, Dr. Lawrence Beall and Dr. Richard Kelly, Chief of the Emergency Department. Dr. Brewer received his M.D. from Duke Medical School. He served his internship and residency at Bridgeport Hospital, Bridgeport, Connecticut. He entered Family Practice in Guilford College community in 1961. He is currently serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Academy of Family Practice. Dr. Brewer is a member of the Guilford County Board of Health. He is college physician for Guilford College and team physician for Western Guilford High School and Guilford College. Dr. Brewer
