Working the Net
The Internet's free-wheeling, wild & woolly culture is evident when looking
for medical information. One can easily click open a world of therapies
that the doctor never mentioned, full text sources, AMA approved
information and advice specifically written for patients. A good place to
start is by using a search engine, a program that looks through
databases for information requested. There are also metasearch sites that
are designed to search several databases at the same time. Caveat emptor:
Some search engines only check the title while others search every word.
Additionally, Metasearch sites vary in sites searched. Here are some of
the addresses (checked yesterday) we have found helpful.
