The growth of population in Guilford County since 1900 has increased at a greater rate than that of the state of North Carolina or that of the United States. The population of Guilford County at the turn of the century was 2.06 per cent of North Carolina population. By 1960, the population, which resided within the county, was 5.41 per cent of the state's total population. The geometric projection suggests that the total population in Guilford County will be 410,233 in 1980 and 468,955 in 1985. The projected total for Greensboro in 1985 was 214,754, The total in 1980 for Greensboro is 192,162. The total for High Point in 1980 is 97,575.
