July 2, 1947 Mrs. Julius W. Cone, Owls Roost, Blowing Ix>ck, 8. C. Dear Laurat I ippreciete very much your letter of I July relative to the proposed plana for permitting bathing in the big lake. x was of the opinion that Stat* health regulations did not apply to lakes which are not a source of supply for drinking water, though I may be wrong, and sinew the Mayor has undertaken to take the matter up with the State Health Department we will be doubly sure that we are on th* right track. From an wnginwering standpoint, I do not believe It would be wise +o place the swimming pier on the M as sinking piles might have a tendency to open up fissure* in it. Regarding the matter of a telephone, 1 believe it would be a good Idea to have th* phone transferred from the house to the home of Mr. A, C. Moody In the name of The moses H. Cons Memorial Park. I don't believe we west to do this until Mrs. Howe and &rs. Walsh vacate the faoee-place. Af you see Mr. "oe y, will you please instruct him to have the telephone company make this transfer after Mrs. Walsh vacates. Also tell *r. *»oody that I am returning to bin the map I borrowed, which * have had duplicated. I have also bound over all of the fire ifisvi&BM on th* home-place and all of the buildings, and have In addition taken public 11> bllity Insurance on the lake and the entire property so that If any accidents occur, th* hospital will be protected and I assume that he, as manager, Is protected just as well in the *vent of any emit* for SmamgMa I am going to arrange for a goodly bunch of ftlgJM which might be ready in time for Mr. Moody to pick them up r*sh*n he delivers all th* household brie-a-brac to th* Gre*nsboro beneficiaries. * talked to the tfank yesterday, and old them that in my opinion they were taking a whale of a risk authorising Mr. aloody to a»ak* delivery of all this junk as far away as Baltimore and that I fait they should look into th* condition of Aunt Bertha's truck before th*y let him go ahead and sake such a long trip in It. After all, this is none of my business, but I would hate to lose %ocy, a truck, and also 1 would hate to see the Hndau family lose all the household Junk, which can very easily happen if the truck is in the condition I f*>ar it is. The Bank will have someone at Blowing Bock at the end of the week to handl* this and other matt*rs with Mr. Moody. Th* rumor mongers have spread th* report that H*ll Vanstory has been employed as Executive Secretary of the hospital. ' believe we have a nary able business man with a flare for public relations. I «or;'t know just when he can get started, but
