We heard you were coming to Moses Cone Hospital, and
just so you'll know what to expect we're going to
show you what it was like for another girl who had
surgery here.

This is Jenny Youngblood and her mother and dad.
Jenny is five years old and she goes to kindergarten.
They are in the Admitting Office where a nice lady has
asked Jenny's parents some questions. Now she's putting a plastic bracelet with Jenny's name, room number
and her doctor's name on her arm. You'll see her wearing this identification bracelet until she goes home.
It tells all the people in the hospital just who she
is and they will be sure she gets to her room, into
her bed, and takes her medication and all the other
things her doctor has ordered.

down the hall.
Then another lady, an Admitting Porter, took Jenny
and her parents down a long hall to the Laboratory.

In the laboratory, she met a pretty girl' in a white
uniform. She ashed her to sit at a desk. She laid
out little bottles. Each bottle was a different
color. Then she tied a rubber cord around her arm.
This made the veins in her arm seem to grow larger.
She inserted a needle into a vein in her arm. It hurt
a little—almost like a bee sting, but it happened
very quickly, and after the needle was inserted it
didn't hurt any longer. Jenny didn't cry, but if you
feel like it go ahead, it's okay.
