Bryan Georgiady fulfilled his heritage when he carried the Olympic torch past
The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital June 23. Georgiady, whose father is
Greek, is one of the latest links in the Olympic tradition that dates back to
ancient Greece.
A two-year veteran of Moses Cone Hospital's Teen Volunteer Program,
Georgiady was selected in April to be a Community Hero. A Community Hero
is a person whose service to others exemplifies the spirit of the Olympics. With
this honor came the responsibility of representing the community in the
Olympic Torch Run.
"It's a big honor," Georgiady said. "Not very many people in the country are
running, and every one who is running earned it."
