Habitat house becomes a home
Cold weather didn't keep a crowd of more than 50 Moses
Cone Health System employees from gathering outside to watch as the hospital's Habitat house became home to
a family of eight. At the Dec. 17 dedication ceremony, Kmok Cal, his wife Tu Dagout and their children thanked
the many volunteers with big smiles, teary eyes and gentle pats.
In broken English, one daughter read from a crumpled piece of paper her family's promise to take care of their
home and help the community in any way they can. She also told the crowd of employees, Habitat for Humanity
volunteers, friends and neighbors that in Vietnam, her native country, owning a home is the highest honor.
