Parker
,
Sr
.
(1933-
)
. He was a
professional
barber
and
owned
several
shops
in
Greensboro
,
including
one
locataed
in the
basement
of
Cooper
Hall
at
N.C
.
A&T
State
University
. He was
involved
in
many
community
activies
, and
organizations
. In
1969
he
left
the
city's
Human
Relations
Committee
to
become
the
first
African-American
to be
appointed
to the
Alcohol
Control
Board
. Of
particular
interest
are the
two
photographs
taken
on
East
Market
street
,
looking
west
toward
downtown
Greensboro
. This
section
of
East
Market
Street
was
razed
during
the
Urban
Renewal
"
improvements
" of the
1960s
.
