Dear Smarter ";rvih*.
I plan to be In Washington the vmk of August IS
with my wife and two children and I am writing to
inquire '. we it will be potslbls Cor- M to socure
passes to the Senate Gallery.
■While I am writing I would like to add that it seems
to tat the reasoned, careful statement jf the Oeana
and Professors of the Southern Law Schools is a much
more sound position than the one you have been taking
in the past in regard to the 3tpr*M Court of the
United States,
North Carolina, in riy Time* has an opportunity that
is given to few political states in the history of
the world, viz., to show mankind a democratic, creative
way to the solution of how mo might live together
with equal rights and opportunities. Many of our
communities, Greensboro among them, are taking painful
steps in that direction. It would help us 80 «oeh
if our Congress woiild pass a clear Civil Righto act
which will aatee it evident, without •qt&tocation,
that in .America all man are first class citizens.
