V. Resolution Concerning the Negro Students of the Woman's College I a _ / . i- J.
WHEREAS: The Woman's College of the University of North Carolina has
accepted Neguoes as students, and
WHEREAS: the College has the responsibility of seeing that Negro students,
as members of the Woman's College community, receive the same
privileges as any other member of this community, and
WHEREAS: it is apparent that there is a disparity between the ideal
concept of equal opportunities for all students in this
college community and the actual situation as it now exists
due to the fact that Negro students, because of their color,
cannot attend certain places considered "on campus", such
as the Cinema Theater, the Apple House Restaurant, and the Town
and College Restaurant, and
WHEREAS: the decision to accept Negro students at The Woman's College
implies that the administration gives them their full moral
support, not just a limited partial support, and
WHEREAS: administrative support implies that the members of the administration will use their influence to have the Negro students
enrolled at The Woman's College admitted to the theatre and
establishments "on gampusV
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
1. that the members of this student legislative body urge
Chancellor Singletary to use his authority and influence
as a college official to aid in solving this problem that
both confuses and upsets the Negro students on this campus, and
2. that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Chancellor
of the Woman's College.
