Miss Lauren Brown
Mr. Larry Williamson
Coordinators, Neo-Black Society
Elliott Hall
The Campus
Dear Miss Brown and Mr. Williamson*.
I am writing to acknowledge receipt of your letter of February 16,
1971, which enclosed a petition concerning the establishment of a Black
Student Lounge.
There are several aspects of this petition that need clarification.
I suggest that the Coordinators of the Neo-Black Society set up a committee
(with themselves included as members) to meet with an appropriate group
of administrators and me to discuss this matter.
The first part of next week I must be involved in a meeting of the
Board of Trustees and in hearings before the Joint Appropriations Committee of the General Assembly. The best time I can suggest for the
meeting proposed above is 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, 1971.
Please contact this office to let us know if the suggested time
is convenient for you and your associates.
The meeting would be held in the Horseshow Room on the ground
floor of Alumnae House.
Sincerely,
James S. Ferguson
Chancellor
