MEMORANDUM
TO: Mr. H. L. Ferguson, Jr.
FROM: James S. Ferguson
I believe that Miss Randi Bryant and Dean Thomas J. C.
Smyth have identified students to serve on a committee to express
to your office some of the wishes of students with regard to a new
food service contract either with Slater Corporation or some other
company. I do not know how that committee intends to go about finding
out the preferences of the student body in general. However, we have
less than five weeks in which to test sentiment on this campus. I presume that we intend to modify the contract before the opening of school
in September. Have you and the committee had any conversations up
to this time ?
If I can do anything to expedite action, please let me know. I
do feel strongly that we must be prepared for some kind of renegotiation
by midsummer.
