RESOLUTION WITH RESPECT TO DECISION OF THE UNITED
STATES SUPREME COURT BANNING SEGREGATION
IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS
WHEREAS, the Supreme Court of the United States has rendered a
decision to the effect that the segregation of pupils in public
schools solely upon the basis of differences in race violates the
Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, and
is thus invalid and unlawful; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the Greensboro City Administrative
Unit, the governing body of the public schools of the Greater Greeneboro
School District, recognizes that the decision of the Court constitutes
the law of the land and is binding upon the Board;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Board instruct the
Superintendent to study and report to the Board regarding ways
and means for complying with the Court1s decision.
