Each day it becomes nor* apparent that college campuses are having
problems and that they will continue in the Inmedlata future. As yntt
know, Greensboro has not been without Its problems and we feel the time
Is correct for coordinated planning sad mutual cooperation* Most education administrators find thsmselvee entering dark fields and have begun
to realise that law eofcrcsneat has worked In these areas for many years
with varying degrees of success. While the esmpus strike Is in Its la*
fancyf the cmsspauy strike has been handled for years as an almost routine
strike natter* Protests on the streets were effectively and fairly handled
and now the problem has moved to the esmpus aai its Initial handling has
befsllen the college admiaistrster. Keeping the aforementioned in mi ad,
if* feel that we may be the catalyst for year thinking and offer the follow
lag as guideline* and suggestions for the orgaalsatlon of thoughts, policies
and procedures vhaa confronted with campus problems:
1, ffmt the callage gstahllak a ccnpaad structure within the admlal*
stratlvn personnel so that police will knew mho Is to he called
and In whet order, these listings should Include nans, address,
business phonef home and other phones where personnel can he can-
tatted.
2, Wm will the persons to receive studnnt demands bat Where will
tb**s defends be beard? lew many students will ha heard In one
-group? Who will speak for the administration and within what
time limit will answers be given. It Is frankly felt to allow
large number* to be heard as a grievance group9 courts trouble
and then brings on other problem* of taking aver offices and
buildings.
3, Answers shouti be resolved concerning what will he 4mm should
students tska over buildings. Are they to be ignored or removed?
Experience tends to show that success breads success and per*
missive attitudes are taken as success by students, this naturally
brings sbout $uest lefts of enforcement and assistance from pollen
