About the Greater Greensboro Society of Medicine Alliance

The Guilford County Medical Society collection contains the scrapbooks of the auxiliary medical organization whose name has been through its history:

Originally explicitly a women's auxiliary for the wives of doctors, this organization is now a philanthropic organization for the families of medical personnel. Founded in 1928 as a women's auxiliary to the Guilford County Medical Society, today the Greater Greensboro Society of Medicine Alliance continues to work with education and health issues in Greensboro. The Auxiliary worked in context with the larger organization, both at the state and federal level, and in relationship with the American Medical Association. They organized letter-writing campaigns, fund-raising, and a number of special events like Doctor's Day to increase health and medical awareness in the community.
