respective
classes

Freshmen

Sophomore
, and
Junior
,
who
can
graduate
in
three
,
two
and
one
more
years
respectively
without
exceeding
the
maximum
number
of
periods
allowed
.

27-1899—Seniors’
essays
must
not
exceed
1500
words.October

Twenty-four
is
the
maximum
number
of
periods
of
work
for any
student
, and there
can
be
no
substitution
for
Physical
Culture
.
Students
excused
for any
reason
from
Vocal
Music
are
required
to
do
its
equivalent
,
under
the
direction
of the
President
.

Freshman
Arithmetic
shall
be
counted
but
four
periods
for
Freshman

meetings
of the
Faculty
shall
be
held
on the
second
and
fourth
Mondays
of
each
month

scholastic
year

provided
that
no
meeting
shall
continue
longer
than
one
and
one-half
hours

students
entering
before
1898
have the
privilege
of
continuing
in
one
of the
old
courses
,
provided
that they have not been
out
of the
College
as
much
as a
year
at the
time
since
their
entrance
; but any
student
changing
her
course
must
choose
one
of the
new
courses
.
October-1898-For
a
student
taking
one
of the
old
courses
Elocution
is
optional
in the
Junior
year
. The
work
in a
lower
class
must
be
completed
before
the
work
in the
same
subject
can
be
taken
in a
higher
class
. In
case
of a
conflict
between
work
in a
lower
class
in any
department
and the
work
in a
higher
class
in
another
department
, if the
student
cannot
(within)
[penciled]
the
limited
number
of
periods
of
work
allowed
take
both
, she
must
drop
the
work
in the
higher
class
and
continue
the
work
in the
lower
.
Students
are not
allowed
to
do
double
work
in any
subjects
(except
Science
,
Pedagogics
,
History
and
music)

unless
they are
prepared
for the
work
in the
higher
class
which
they
desire
to
enter
, and then
only

by the
permission
of the
Faculty

Satisfactory
examinations
on
all
back
work
must
be
passed
at the
beginning
of the
session
.
Students
receiving
a
failure
on any
subject
at the
midyear
examinations
are
required
to
ether[sic]
drop
into a
lower
class
in that
subject
or to
discontinue
the
study
of
it
for that
year
,
provided
(1)
that
all
students
shall
be
required
to
continue
with at
least
fifteen
periods
of
work
;
(2)
that
Seniors
receiving
a
condition
on
more
than
one
subject
at the
midyear
examinations
are
no
longer
to be
considered
members
of the
class
and will be
required
to
discontinue
some
of their
work
;
(3)
that in
case
of
providential
hindrance
a
student
can
be
given
a
longer
time
to
remove
her
condition
at the
discretion
of the
Physician
and the
head
of the
department
.
It
was
moved
and
carried
that
Mr
.
Brown’s
resolution
be
adopted.Resolved
, that
no
member
of the
Faculty
be
allowed
the
floor
more
than
three
minutes
, and that
no
member
be
allowed
to
speak
more
than
once
on a
subject
without
the
consent
of the
house
.
It
was
ordered
that a
corrected
copy
of the
regulations
adopted
at this
meeting
pertaining
to the
students
be
prepared
by the
codification
committee
posted
on the
bulletin
board
. The
matter
of
putting
Instrumental
Music
in the
regular
course
was
brought
before
the
Faculty
, and the
attention

the
music
committee
was
called
to
it
.
