DISCUSSES MINTING president Truman disclosed today that an early meeting of the Big Three has been definitely set and he said that thez. are prospects for a complete settlement of the Polish issue."" The President said that while he cannot divulge the time end place he soon will meet with Karshal Stalin and Prime Minister Churchill to iron out any remaining differences of the Dig Three, James Byrnes, former War D-bilizcr, and Secretary of State Stettinius will accompany him to the Big 3 meeting." The Japanese in Burma are withdrawing toward the frontiers of Thailand. The Australian troops on Borneo have driven ahead eight miles to capture the Brunei -.ir Strip," Another Aussie force has landed on Eorneo's west coast," to the south of tho Brunei Aiea, Aussie units on Labuan Island in the Bay of Brunei were oliminating enemy forces today west of the captured Labuan Air Field. The fighting continued bitter on Okina- wa."" On the southern V,ayu-Dake plateau where the American assault foi'ces have taken both the eastern and western anchors of the line."" There is aboi-t three miles between the two American forces. Tho Japs are concentr-' ting intense fire on the Marines and the casualities have been heavy."" However, the Japanese casuolities have mounted too, with the Infantrymen burning the Nips out of their caves with five-hundred foot long flame- throwing hose attached to the tanks at the ba.se of tho clift. On Northeast Luzon, Allied warplanes of FEilF ripped out enemy positions blocking our way into the broad Cagayan Valley Ground forces broke resistance and are now only five road miles from San Luis, the entrance to the Valley.
