Dearest Mother and Daddy," I haven't had a letter from you all since last Sunday. In fact I haven't had any mail at all for 3 days. Nobody has been getting much though. I hope I'll have some tomorrow.
I was off at 3:30 to-day and when I came over I tried to take a nap, but it was just too darn hot. Right now I wish it would start pouring down rain, but there are no signs of it.
Several days ago I had a letter from Aunt Bess, and she was telling me about Charles Long being killed on Okinawa. I also had another letter from Jewell Warren, and she told me about P.H. Scarboro, Jr. being killed by this Jap P.O.W. that was hit. More and more, I realize every day how lucky I am that my darling is safely back in the good old U.S.A., and I keep hoping how soon I'll get back there.
""Rebel"" has been lying here gnawing on a bone very happily. I let her run loose this afternoon, and she got in a mud hole. Believe me she's a mess.
Guess who I saw the other day? You remember the Dr. Martin that I always thought was so wonderful when I was in training? Well, he's now Col. Martin and is with a General Hospital not far from here. He found out that I was here, so he came by to see me. He knows Co. Arn.
There's to be a movie in our club tonight. Don't know what it is, but I'll probably go. Having nothing else to do.
So I'll say so long for now. Tell everyone hello for me.
Lots of love, Annie Edith " P.S. Glad you liked the souvenirs.
