Dearest Mother and Daddy,"" Haven't had a letter from you all in about 3 days, but then, the mail hasn't been coming in very well for anyone. So maybe I'll get one tomorrow.
As you can see I'm saving a little sum of money over here. There's no place to spend it. So you can just put it in the bank on my savings account.
There isn't much news over in these parts. I'm still working on a Surgical and Orthopedic ward. To-morrow is my day off for the week. Vivian is off too. So we'll be able to ""snooze"" in the morning.
I hear that you are having some pretty cold weather back there. They announced it over the radio this noon- 52' in Tenn. they said.
By the way- that money I told you to send to Lydia, make it $7.20 instead of $4.00. Vivian said it was $7.20. hope you haven't sent it already. You can use some of this money I'm sending home if you need it.
Must stop now because it will soon be time to go on duty. I'm off 12-3:00. I'm feeling fine and still looking for a letter from Louis.
Lots of love, Annie Edith " P.S. Got 2 newspapers yesterday dated Dec. 6th and 7th. The very latest news.
Another P.S." Well, I didn't get this mailed this morning, and now I'm glad I didn't. After the noon mail I just ripped this letter and so I'm writing more.
I was so happy to get the telegram that Louis sent to you. It made me feel so good just to see some of his own writing- even if it was printing. I wonder if he is back home now. I didn't think he knew where I am. I hope I will be able to get back to him before too long. I miss him so much.
That was sad about Roy Croops. When I read about things like that, I realize how lucky I am that my darling is coming back to me safe and sound. As Jay told me the day that I got the word that Louis was a prisoner of war- he said I was among the fortunate ones. He wasn't because he lost his only son.
Vivian and I have been very busy all day. First we got up about 8:30 and fixed our breakfast. We had coffee which we made over a little burner, grapefruit juice, bread, butter, jam, and ham left over from last night's supper. You should have seen us sitting at our little table in the tent. Then we had on more than finished our breakfast when the Chief Nurse told us that we had to move to another tent. Soooo- we've spent the rest of the day moving. We didn't even go to dinner.
It's about 6:30 now and we're pretty tired out, so we're just quitting for the day. However I think we'll rest until 8:00 and then go to the movies in our Club.""Something for the Boys"" is on. Should be good.
But before saying good-night I want to say that I'm happiest girl in the Philippines to-night.
