Dearest Mother and Daddy,"" I received your letter to-day that you wrote May 6th. Pretty quick service- eh?
Yes, I guess Everett has moved, because I tried to get in touch with him but he wasn't at this place any longer.
I just took time out for midnight chow, and then I made out the midnight reports on all of the wards, so now I'm back to my letter.
Its just pouring down rain, and the sound of it on the tent just makes me want to snuggle up somewhere and sleep- Mmm.
Yesterday I had a letter from Berryhill and she is in the Army. She went in Apr. 1st, and is station at Foster Gen. Hosp., Jackson, Miss.
It was nice of Leon Lang to write you a note about Louis. I didn't know where he was.
I still haven't received any of yours or Aunt Esther's packages, but I sure am anxiously awaiting them.
Only four more nights of night duty and will be glad. It's really been a hectic 2 weeks, because I've had some very sick patients- most of them casualties.
I keep wondering how much longer it will be until we hear something more from Louis. I'm getting so anxious to get some word directly from him. It's been so long.
Within the last three days I've had two nice letters from Jack Hatcher. He was telling all about his course. In one letter to him I mentioned casually how nice it would be after the war, when he started practicing, for me to be his office nurse. And he took me seriously. So I'll have to write and tell him that I was only kidding. I intend to settle down to raising a family after I get out of this man's army.
1:30 A.M. It's still pouring down rain, and right now everything is quiet here on the ward.
By the way, I don't know if I told you or not. Vivian got her promotion to 1st Lt. the same day I got mine. Jay's birthday is the 18th and Vivian and I were coming off N.D. the 20th- so we were going to celebrate his birthday and our promotions the day we got off nights. But he will be practically back to the states by that time, so I guess we celebrate by ourselves.
I'll say good night for now. Glad both of you are feeling good. Tell everybody ""hello"" for me.
