Dearest Mother and Babs, There really isn't much to write in the way of news this time. Sort of got ahead of myself there, didn't I? Last night I wrote Daddy, Aunt Anna, and Hardwick and Grandma and Grandpa, and that's pretty good for me of late as I've only been writing to you and Daddy. I'm going to try to get a few more off tonight, too, besides doing a bit of ironing.
This is a lovely evening, so nice and warm. The uniform of the day for the boots doesn't call for their raincoats and it looks so springy seeing them in their suits.
Doris received about 3 phone calls last night. She had taken a bath when we came in about 1800 last night and besides she wasn't going to answer any phone calls for her because she though they'd all be from this civilian, one we went out with just before Easter. Well, how surprised she was when I'd come up and tell her to rush down, that it was a fellow who was a friend of a friend of theirs or something, and another time it was Mrs. Bussman. Only the first call was from Al, so he's not supposed to call again until the middle of next week when he can talk to Doris. She has a date with the fellow who called last night, a soldier, I believe, and is getting ready to go now. Maybe from now on she'll answer her phone calls, I hope. We had a lot of fun about it last night. She didn't know she was so popular, ha! I was talking with the Yeoman in the Education office today and she said that Doris is scheduled to go up before the board on Friday. Sure hope she passes.
After I had your letter sealed last night, I remembered that I hadn't mentioned anything to you about my big pay I received yesterday. Yup, a whole fifty-seven bucks which included my uniform allowance, that's why. Now I'll get that quarterly isn't that swell, because I've been in for a year. But that will soon disappear when I start buying my summer uniforms soon. Really, I do have too much cash on hand now, so I'm enclosing a twenty (and here it is this time)" If you need the money, don't hesitate to use it.
Are you going to many dances, Babs? Do you know how to Lindy? Suppose you do, and if so, you'd be very popular here in N.Y. They thrive on that, ha! But I'm afraid I might get my arm pulled off!
