Now that winter is an
established fact, theWAVES
are thinking about skiing
and skating, even Southerners are looking forward
to their first taste of
winter sports.
But don't go north before the middle of January. If you insist on a
ski party for Christmas or
New Year's, you're just
wasting yoxr money. "Some"
snow does not mean "enough"
snow on those rock-littered trails. Stick around
home. You can ski on the
golf courses with little
more than a heavy frost,
and you can rent skates,

CHRISTMAS INCOGNITO
My uniform of Navy blue
Permits no variation new
To indicate by festive hue
That Christmas holidays are due
No holly graces my lapel,
No little wreath or silver bellj
No flower I wear, no star to tell
That I, too celebrate Noel.
And yet I hope whero'er I go
The lads will quickly come to know
That on my hat swings to and fro
An unseen sprig of mistletoe.

STREAMLINING WITH
BENDS AND STRETCHES
Based on Specific Needs
Of ComOne WAVES
At 1020' and 1420' each
day at District Headquarters the WAVES' typewriters
and desks are abandoned
for a ten minute relaxation period.
All WRs, minus jackets,
with slightly red faces
and a few faint groans,
briskly stretch necks and
arms, stand on tip-toe and
bend to touch the floor,
awakening muscles quietly
resting since training
school days.
Thus the Physical Maintenance program swings under way in Boston, a program scheduled ultimately
for every station at which
?.fAVES are stationed in
ComOne.
In charge of this far-
reaching plan is Lt.(jg)
Alice Schriver, who reported to our District Training Office on October 24th,
with a truly distinguished
record in her field behind
her.
When she put on Navy
blue she left the position
of Director of Physical
