NO, m V\T1 * f ^Ems ms nOT'Ji ~ GREENSBORO, N.C AUGUST, 196 8 YOUR DOWNTOWN Get The Downtown "Big Picture" People interested in the future of downtown can get a glimpse of the "big picture" for the downtown general neighborhood on August 20. At 7:30 p. m. in the City Council Chambers of the Municipal Building on Tuesday, August 20, a public hearing will be held on the downtown GNRP (General Neighborhood Renewal Plan). Plans scheduled for the next ten years for renewing and rebuilding Greensboro's central core will be explained and discussed. There will be maps showing proposed plans for thoroughfare, land use, zoning and other functions. Color slides of artist's sketches will demonstrate possible treatment for buildings in a number of blocks. You can see what your block could look like after renewal. The cost and financing of the various projects will be discussed, along with means of financing private construction and remodeling within the area. (Special loans are available to businesses in renewal project areas to upgrade their facilities). This hearing will be a chance for every downtown-minded person to hear and be heard on tangible plans for downtown Greensboro's future for the immediate future and beyond. Come and discuss what has been conceived as a "decade of f \ action" for Greensboro. GREENSBORO PUB Avin Moves to Atlanta Lynwood Avin, formerly Business Relocation Advisor with the Redevelopment Commission, has accepted a position as Business Relocation Specialist with the Regional Office of the Department of Housing and Urban Development in Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Avin began his duties there in mid-July. Mr. Avin performed invaluable service during his two year's employment with the Redevelopment Commission. He obtained extensive help from the Small Business Administration in the relocation of businesses displaced by renewal activities. He was instrumental in encouraging significant new development and expansion for many businesses throughout the city. As a result of his work, the problem of moving has been turned into a valuable opportunity for many businesses to retool, and modernize, or expand their facilities. Mr.Avin's duties with HUD will cover eight southeastern states. We look forward to continued assistance from him as he visits periodically to advise in matters of business relocation. We congratulate Mr. Avin in his new position. We extend to him our best wishes and our gratitude for a job well done. L £ L With a View Another sandwich shop-cafe has opened in the downtown area. This one has a view. It's located on the 7th floor of the Wachovia Building. Cafeteria style self-service is quick, the food is good, the surroundings pleasant, and the location is excellent. You can get all the coffee you can drink for a dime. If you have enjoyed the food at the L 6 L at 216 South Greene Street, try the new L 6 L at 715 Wachovia Building. 1ARY
