ARTbeat, May-June 1996 ART bear y\l+emo+ive Resources of \\\e~ Tncid FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Friends: Tr f "•hese are indeed busy days for those of us actively involved with Alternative Resources of the Triad. Recently, the organization's Board of Directors voted to take on a sponsorship role with the 1996 Rainbow Ball and Reception for North Carolina Pride '96. The Reception is scheduled for June 8 in the Atrium area of the Benton Convention Center. It begins at 8 p.m. with hors d'oeuvres and entertainment provided by Paris LeBon and The Nuttie Butties. The huge dance, which will follow the reception at 10 p.m., promises to be one of our community's most exciting events this year. While I have no doubt that the Rainbow Ball will be a real blast, I must admit that huge amount of work involved in preparing for such an undertaking can be somewhat daunting. For that reason, I want to take this opportunity to challenge everyone who reads this newsletter to volunteer their services to Pride '96. Simply contact Pride at (910) 750- 0052, Ext. 1996. If you would, let the organizers at Pride know you're interested in helping with the Rainbow Ball ~ believe me, we will warmly welcome your assistance. As you may have heard, the Rainbow Ball is designed to have something for everyone. If you're a "Dancing Diva," we've got a spectacular floor just for you. If you're more comfortable in denim, boots, and your cowboy hat. you'll love the country bar. Still, if you're into a more intimate atmosphere, an elegant piano bar is planned just for you. I do hope all of you will take an active role in this special event. It is a tremendous way for ART to increase its visibility in our community while playing a pivotal part in making NC Pride '96 a smashing success.
