Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays GREENSBORO, N.C. Vol.9 No. 6 June, 2002 PFLAG National Conference, Sept. 27-29 Advance Registration Deadline Extended. You now have through July 15 to register at the advance rate for the 2002 national Conference, September 27-29. Speakers will include Judy Shepard and PFLAG's new Executive Director, David Tseng. There will be a safe schools town meeting where you can share your visions and strategies, three plenaries and over 30 workshops offered. Other highlights include the Awards lunch, honoring PFLAG affiliates, members and others who have advanced GLBT civil rights, and a Family Reunion on Saturday night. There are a number of exciting workshops in development for the September 27-29, 2002 conference. Some topics being planned: Getting Your School Board on Board - PFLAG of the Future? Bridging the Generation Gap Strengthening Your Local Work through Networking and Relationship-Building Gender Norm Exploration Homo/Bi/Transphobia in Faith Communities, including exploration of tie current Catholic Church crisis Why Should PFLAG Care About Intersex? What Do LGBT People Want? For the first time, a series of clinics on critical issues for local chapters/activists will be held. Participants will bring their particular concerns to the clinic and receive diagnosis and suggestions for treatment, prevention and holistic health from people with experience in the field. Clinics will be held on topics including safe schools, support, how to form and build alliances with people of color groups, and leadership/membership development. Registration. Listen and share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with, knowing that others can understand. Welcome especially to our returning members whose love is so healing.
