Unless (Continued On Page 2) Cunningham, Reiley Each Have Three Ideas Accepted; V&V Retains Lead During the month of November, sixteen suggestions were accepted with the V&V Laboratory still in the lead. Don Cunningham and Joe Reiley, both of the Cough Drop Laboratory, each had three accepted suggestions. Other winners included Melvin Mobley, Frank Schmidt and Jim Allen of Shipping, Tom Bird, Mike McEntee and Ed Wallen of Maintenance, Gene Kelly and Stella Wesley of V & V, Joan Murphy of Personnel, and Hank Gorski and Tony Knox of Accounting. Don Cunningham's three suggestions were the first he has had accepted. The first one was for a slit rubber gasket to be placed around the edge of the doors on the Berks Mixers to prevent injury and torn clothing. The second one had to do with the placement of a mineral oil can on the Berks Mixer to cut down on the use of mineral oil and to do away with a hazardous situation. His third idea was a removable slide from the cartoning room into the cooling room which eliminates the necessity of men working in the cooling room for long periods of time while placing drops on the belts. Joe Reiley suggested the installation of an automatic bleeder-type valve in place of the manually operated valve presently in use, the installation of a wider guard band on the Berks Mixers to prevent much of the banking and jerking (Continued On Page 3) Four In G'boro Appointed ToSuggestion Committee For Next Calendar Year New members of the Greensboro Suggestion Committee were announced by G. Dot Hurley has been appointed to complete the unexpired term of Margaret Fields, who resigned from the committee. Dot will serve until June of 1954. W. Y. Preyer, Jr., was re-appointed for another year as Chairman of the committee. $10,815 were distributed to mem bers of the club. Immediately following distribution of the checks, collections were begun for next year, and $342.50 has already been received from 101 members for their Christmas savings in 1954. Helen Laughon, who, in addition to her regular duties in the Accounting Department, has been handling our club since Vick personnel began participating, boasts that during the past year the club membership totaled 108 accounts. The amount a member deposits regularly is based upon the sum he wishes to receive in December, 1954. There is, however, a minimum of fifty cents per week. Weekly payments are turned in to Martha Johnson at Wendover Avenue and to Dot Collie in the V&V Laboratory, while Helen handles the collection for . officp members. Not to be forgotten is the part Sam Mundy plays. His important role is delivering the deposits to the bank each week. JIMMY LISTENS INTENTLY to the Christmas story that his father, Bill Campbell of Philadelphia Accounting, is reading to him. Suzanne is having trouble fighting off the sandman. Christmas is the time that family ties are strengthened through scenes like this. Pollyanna Party Slated For Wendover There's fun in store for everyone attending the Pollyanna Party sponsored by the Wendover Social and Recreation Committee. Beginning at five o'clock, the party will be held in the Wendover Cafeteria on Friday, December 18. Adding to the Christmas atmosphere, a quartet of Vick personnel will be harmonizing on many beloved Yuletide carols. There will be a decorated Christmas tree, and Santa will drop in to distribute gifts. Baked ham with apple rings, candied yams, green limas, and fruit cake with whipped cream will be served at 5:00 p.m. W. Y. Preyer, Sr., will be speaker, acting as emcee for the rest of the evening. Plans are being made to accommodate approximately 160 Wendover personnel expected to attend the party.
