GREENSBORO TOBACCO MARKET.
MARKET REPORT.
The receipts on our market for the
past week have been the heaviest for
any week siuce the new year began,
and we feel we will not have another
week this season in which there will
be as much tobacco sold as there was
the past week. Notwithstanding all
of this we find prices fully as stiff as
they have been ut any time with the
exception of tobacco that Is too soft lul
order aud liable to damage at an early B
date. These tobaccos looked a little
oners will he sent to the workhouse [cheaper than they have been, but it!
hereafter, where they will be assigned
tasks iu keeping with their physical
condition. Clothing for the convict
camps will be made and repaired there,
and trucking will be carried on exten-sively,
it being the object of the board
to make the place supply us far as pos-sible
the needs of the camps in the way
was entirely on account of the order, g
With this exception everybody went *
went away highly pleased with prices. !
We have never seen such satisfaction
in our lives as there was last Saturday
and Monday, when tobacco looked
higher to us than it has auy day dur- j
ing the present season, and farmers
of vegetables. The commissioners have | seemed to feel the same way about it,
given the question of u workhouse
much careful consideration, and it is
safe to say that the institution will em-body
all the commendable features
that it is possible to incorporate therein.
