Number 5
February 1991
At this point in our active
year, it occurred to me that it
might be interesting and
instructive to review our
activities. Elsewhere in this
newsletter you will read
about projects in which we
are involved, and programs
which have been awarded
funds by our Health
Education Foundation. We
should all take an interest in
the latter because we are the
fund raisers for our
Foundation.
Health related projects in
our community are an
important part of our
identity as an organization.
We continue to support
Healthline even though we
have discontinued
distribution of the material
to doctors' offices. We will
hand over "Think First" to
the public school system.
When a version for younger
children becomes available, a
method of presentation can
be discussed. As
Greensboro's two hospital
emergency rooms complete
their renovations, the
Alliance will install
dedicated children's play
areas in them. Clara House,
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
a shelter for women and
children, victims of domestic
violence, is helped in many
ways by "Moms & Tots." The
"[This]
organization, by
its very definition,
is yours. It is
made impressive
by its
achievements and
the commitment
of its 300
members, to help
make our
community a
better place in
which to live."
Dianna Goodchild,
President, Greater
Greensboro Society of
Medicine Alliance
Blue Ribbon Campaign
promotes community
awareness of child abuse.
The list goes on.
Our annual "A Home For
The Holidays" which makes all
this fiscally possible, also
provides occasions for us to
both socialize and work
together.
Each year we collaborate
with the Medical Society at the
Symposium and with our joint
Endowment Fund, which also
makes grants to health related
projects in the community.
Each year as we welcome
new physicians and their
families to our medical family
we renew that feeling of
community.
Whether you choose to
support this energetic group
with your dues alone; whether
you attend general
membership meetings for the
informative and enjoyable
programs presented; whether
you chair a committee, sit on
the Executive Board, or pitch
in and help at a single event,
this organization, by its very
definition, is yours. It is made
impressive by its achievements
and the committment of its 300
members to help make our
community a better place in
which to live.
