" Month
Wesley Long" can "attribute a good
portion of the excellent care on 4 West
to Ward Secretary Linda Caudle. Caudle,
sometimes referred to as "the pulse" of
4 West, was named the January Employee
of the Month by the Selection Committee.
Caudle's philosophy is simple: "We
all have job descriptions. But if something needs to be done and you are capable of doing it, I think you should
do it." You might find Linda being
secretary, nurses' aide, courier or
housekeeper. When not busy at the
nurses' station, she's helping patients,
delivering mail or helping a visitor
find his or her way. And Linda says,
"If I can't help, I'll find somebody
who can."
A member of the Orthopedic Team
describes Linda as an inspiration.
"Linda is a very courteous, caring
individual who helps employees and
January 9, 1987
visitors. If she has to work double shifts
or even miss a meal, she never complains. She
is an influence upon all and a good role model
to learn from."
Linda joined WLCH in 1978 as a nurses' aide.
Tn 1981, after substituting for several ward
secretaries for two years, she took the position
on 4 West. "It's a job that's very challenging. I love it and I love the people there."
Linda and her husband have three sons. And
when she tells you that one of her hobbies is
her grandsons, it's hard to picture someone
who looks so youthful rocking a grandchild to
sleep in her lap. Linda's other hobby is
needlework--crewel and cross-stitch.
When she refers to her job at Wesley Long,
she doesn't call it work. "I'm here to help--
whether it be a co-worker, patient or doctor."
Congratulations, Linda, on your honor as
the January Employee of the Month.
