Certificate of Need Application for Inpatient Rehabilitation Beds at Wesley Long Wesley Long has filed a Certificate of Need application to convert 2 acute care beds to inpatient rehab beds and to add 4 new inpatient rehab beds. The final step in the application process has been completed and a public hearing was held on Tuesday, March 16. Over the coming months the state will be reviewing the application and the information we submitted. We expect their decision on whether or not to award us these beds by June of this year. Utilization Review Reminder to Hospitals and Ambulatory Surgery Centers The HCFA Generic Quality Screens for Outpatient (ambulatory) Surgery were published in the April 3,1989, edition of PRO Bulletin. Your attention is called to the following medical record/chart requirement for all procedures for which a facility charge is billed to the Medicare program. The medical record/chart must have an appropriate and timely history and physical examination completed and the results in the record/chart, with an evaluation note by the operating surgeon, including information about the operative site, prior to surgery. This requirement applies to all procedures, including endoscopies and epidural injections. (The abbreviated clinical record is appropriate for all out patients). - Ralph E.
