MEDICAL RECORDS DEPARTMENT ADDS NEW WORK TYPE TO DICTATION SYSTEM In order to better serve the Wesley Long Community Hospital Medical/Dental Staff, the Medical Record Department has added a new work type to the dictation system, effective immediately. The new work type is a "Pre-Operative History and Physical". It will be labeled on the in-house dictation stations and will be key number 6 on the telephone (when using the outside lines). This addition has been made to facilitate faster transcription for the H&P dictated on patients who are admitted in the later afternoon or evening, and have surgery scheduled the next morning; or patients who will be having surgery on the same day they are admitted to the hospital. This new work type will be transcribed before the regular H&P work type (number 1). We anticipate that the dictated Pre-Op History and Physical will be on the medical record in approximately four to five hours of the time of dictation. Please be sure to only use the work type in the two circumstances described above in order to maintain a short turnaround time. Call Monica Bohman DuBois at 854- 6492 if you have any questions. ANNOUNCEMENTS The Annual Medical/Dental Staff Meeting of Wesley Long Community Hospital is scheduled for Thursday, August 26, 1993 at the Greensboro Sheraton on Elm Street.
