FEBRUARY IS HEART MONTH and we are extremely fortunate to have as Co-
Chairmen for 1972 Mr. and Mrs. Virgil H. Lane. Greensboro Heart Association
Chairman, Paul W. Schenck, Jr., made the announcement early in December and
Mr. and Mrs. Lane were already at work by Christmas including a plug for the
Heart Fund on their Christmas card.
DIAL HEART, an information service of the Greensboro Heart Association,
began operation January 3, 19 72. One of the purposes of DIAL HEART is to
alleviate needless fears through education and the presentation of facts.
The public is encouraged to Dial Heart and record their questions concerning
the heart and circulatory system, related diseases and ways to reduce risks
of heart attacks. Response to this Code-a-phone system has been very good
averaging eight requests daily. Mrs. Robert T. Bridges is Dial Heart Project
Chairman.

THE HEART CLINIC, a diagnostic and treatment center available for the
medically indigent and for physician referral of complex cardiac cases, had
another busy year during 1971. Dr. Thomas B. Nolan is director of this service
sponsored by the Greensboro Heart Association. The volunteer staff of cardiac
specialists is composed of Drs. James C. Bruce, Edwin Bryan, John R. Bumgarner,
