This is the first issue of HEART LINE, a bi-monthly publication of your
Greensboro Heart Association. HEART LINE's purpose is to inform the membership
of the activities and accomplishments of the Association. We hope you will find
HEART LINE interesting and informative. Your comments and suggestions are most
welcome.

MEDICAL AND COMMUNITY PROGRAM - Dr. Thomas B. Nolan and Mrs. Philip Pearce, Co-
chairmen; Dr. Palmer F. Shelburne, Dr. Roy Moore, Dr. Robert Farley, Mrs. E. A.
Travis, Dr. John R. Bumgarner, and ex officio members: Dr. H. Frank Starr, Dr. Joe
W. Frazer and Dr. E. Joseph LeBauer. This committee is responsible for professional
education, research, public education and community service.
PUBLIC RELATIONS PROGRAM - Lloyd Gordon, Chairman, Mrs. Lester Jones, Mrs. James
Alexander, Dr. James C. Bruce, Bailey Hobgood, Dr. Edward P. Benbow and David Greene.
This committee is responsible for media programs and public information.
FUND RAISING PROGRAMS - Grover C. Godwin, Chairman, F. A. Healy, Don Brady, Stewart
Rogers, Dr. Thomas Henson, Dr. Jerome Ruskin, Mrs. Virgil Lane, Mrs. Benson Black and
Lloyd Gordon. This committee is responsible for all fund raising including Heart
Sunday, special benefits, bequests and memorials.
ADMINISTRATION PROGRAM - Stewart Rogers and Dr. H. Frank Starr, co-chairmen, Grover
C. Godwin, Dr. Joseph LeBauer, William F. Black, F. A. Healy, Mrs. Lester Jones, Mrs.
Robert Bridges and Paul W. Schenck and Dr. Joe W. Frazer, ex officio. This committee
is responsible for association procedures including budget and finance and office
procedures, as well as volunteer activities.
MEMBERSHIP, NOMINATIONS, AWARDS COMMITTEE.-Dr. James C. Finn, Chairman, Mrs. Walker
Powell, Dr. James D. Trader, Dr. R. Barrett Steelman, Mrs. E. Earle Rives, Lewis
Boroughs and George Reid. This committee is responsible for election of officers and
board members, planning annual meetings and special awards.
The plans of the various committees have been carefully worked out for 1971-72 and
as they are completed, further details will be reported.
