THE EVERGEENS, an extended care facility, will be moving from its present location
on Bessemer Avenue to a new building on West Wendover Avenue when construction is
completed. Of the more than three hundred patients in residence, many have lived
there for a number of years, some as long as 30 years. The Evergreens' staff is
trying to accomplish the move with as little emotional trauma as possible to these
long term residents
One goal is to have a community volunteer for each patient who will visit the patient at the present location, tour the new facility and, on the day of the move,
accompany the patient from the old to .the new. The volunteer will not be expected
to provide transportation or physical labor but «will be a familiar face to help
the patient feel more secure. " r~ '
